The Omegle alternative: talk to strangers like the old days – but better

Omegle shut down for good in November 2023 after 14 years. If you miss the thrill of clicking a button and suddenly facing someone you've never met, OmmeTV gives you exactly that: random video chat in your browser, with no account, no app and no cost.

What OmmeTV keeps from Omegle

The idea is the same: press Start and we connect you with a random person who is online right now. Not feeling it? Hit Next – or press Esc, old-school style – and you're on to the next person instantly.

Alongside video and audio there's a text chat, for when you'd rather type or can't talk out loud.

What OmmeTV does differently

Omegle ultimately failed because it couldn't keep abuse under control. OmmeTV has a Report button right on the video: reported users are reviewed with a snapshot and the chat log, and anyone reported repeatedly is removed automatically.

You can also filter by gender and country, so you're more likely to meet people you can actually talk to.

And when you hit Next, OmmeTV prefers someone new over the person you just skipped – no more seeing the same face twice in a row.

How to start

Open the site, allow your camera and microphone, click Start. That's it. OmmeTV works on laptops and phones alike, in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge.
