2. In short
OmmeTV works without an account, without tracking and without ads. Video, audio and text chat are transmitted live and not recorded. We only store what is needed to run the service and protect it from abuse – mainly reports and bans.
3. Visiting the website and hosting
When you visit the site, our server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system (user agent). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure and stable operation). We do not keep access logs; technical error logs are size-limited and continuously overwritten.
Our server is located in a data centre of OVH SAS (2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France) within the EU. A data processing agreement with OVH is in place (Art. 28 GDPR).
Cloudflare's network (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) sits in front of our server as a proxy and protection against attacks. Your IP address is transmitted to Cloudflare, which also derives your country from it. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (security and availability). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR); standard contractual clauses are in place as well.
Fonts are served from our own server; no connections to Google or other third parties are made.
4. Video chat
When you press “Start”, your browser asks for access to your camera and microphone. Before that, your camera image is only shown locally in your browser.
To match you, our matching server processes your IP address, the country derived from it and the details you choose to give (your gender and your gender and country filters). This data is kept in memory only while you are connected and discarded when you disconnect. Your chat partner sees your country, not your IP address.
Video, audio and text chat run through our own media server (LiveKit, self-hosted) between you and your chat partner. They are neither recorded nor stored – except when someone files a report (section 5).
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the service you use). Whatever you show on camera or write can be seen by your chat partner; please don't share sensitive data.
5. Reports and bans
When you report someone, your browser sends us a still image from your chat partner's video and the text chat up to that moment. We also store the time and the IP addresses of both people. Anyone who is reported must expect that this image and chat will be reviewed by us.
If several different people report an IP address within a short time, it is automatically banned for a limited period. We may also ban manually after review. For a ban we store the IP address, the end of the ban and the reason.
The purpose is to protect users from abuse and illegal content and to handle reports under the Digital Services Act. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for obligations under the DSA.
Reports including the still image and chat are deleted automatically after 30 days at the latest. Bans are deleted when they expire. If there are indications of a criminal offence, data may be passed on to law enforcement authorities (Art. 6(1)(c) or (f) GDPR).
6. Cookies and local storage
We set a single cookie, “lang”, which stores your chosen language for one year. Your filters are saved in your browser's local storage; they only leave your device when you press “Start”. Both are strictly necessary for the function you request (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG). We do not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.
7. Contacting us by email
If you write to us, we process your message and contact details to answer it (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once the request is settled and no retention obligations apply.
8. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Art. 21). Just email us at the address above. As we don't run accounts, we can usually only identify you by IP address and time.
You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state where you live or where we are based.
9. Minimum age
OmmeTV is intended exclusively for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly process data of minors.
